 Mikes Top 10 Video Games
10 Mario Cart Nintendo 64
Way to many hours were wasted away on this video game. Even though he was a big slow boy, I could kick major butt with Bowser.
9 Doom 2 PC
This was the first game I ever completed playing. It was in 16 bit color, and very blocky by todays standards, but at the time it was as real and gory as it got. You could use your keyboard and mouse to move around, but you could not look up or down. I tried playing this game again to bring back memories a few months ago and got motion sickness.
8 Halo X-Box
This was the game that made me, along with thousands of other people to shell out the bucks for an Xbox. None of us were disappointed. The co-operative play made the game even more fun. Evan and I would play one night a week for about 7 weeks, great times.
7 Terminal Velocity PC
This was the first online game I every played against anyone. My friend Kevin and I first had to spend a couple hours downloading the game matching program, and then another hour downloading the demo. Very simple graphics were in play as you flew over a very bland planet and tried to shoot your competition. Up to 4 players could be on at once, and it played pretty decent over a modem.
6 Motocross Madness PC
How sad is it when your boss comes into work and commands everyone to hurry up and load up a video game on their machines so you can race each other? This is how bad it got with this game as you raced around open landscapes on your motocross bike trying to tag each other out.
5 Monster Truck Madness PC
There was a stretch with this game that a co-worker and I raced the same track over 170 times to see who could win the most. It never got to a point where one of us had more than a 2 to 3 wins than the other player.
4 MorrowWind X-BOX
This is the first Role Playing Game I ever tried. It was like crack. I would stay up into the wee hours of the morning knowing I had to go to work but unable to stop playing this game. I do not want to even imagine how much of my life was wasted away in this game.
3 Quake 2 PC
Overnighters, that is what comes to mind when I think of Quake 2. There were more than a few friday nights that my wife turned into a widow because someone had to play this game. The worst part was, it was a group dependancy. If someone had to go home, there was always someone waiting to take his place, it was insanity.
2 MotoGP X-Box
This was the only racer that I ever got good enough that I came to a point of where the smallest of mistakes, going off the track for less than a second for example, I knew that the entire race had been a failure. It was simple to learn, and impossible to master. Put that together with that I could race against my friends across the country and talk to them over the headset while we were racing was a recipe for disaster. On top of that rankings so you could see how everyone in the country stacked up against you proved to be my undoing as countless hours were sucked away from my life into this game.
1 Tribes PC
This game was the biggest black hole of time. It was bought by a fluke when I read a magazine article on the game. I brought it in to work and everyone just looked at it and thought it was weird. It was a first person shooter with the twist of jetpacks. Everyone in the shop was hooked within an hour. After a month or so we all became pretty much masters at the game. At this point team tactics, setting up offense and defense came into play. This game was played hard for over a year at the office.
