The McNish

Clan Crest

Clan crests are made up of objegts, shapes and symbols that represent a clans history.  They have been used thruout history as a marker for what is owned by a clan.  The McNish clan crest is no different.  Below is listed the individual parts and there meaning.  I found this very interesting and made me more proud of my McNish name.

Blue (Azure) Has a meaning of strength and loyalty.

White Has a meaning of sincerity and peace.

The Chevron shape in the sheild  represents the roof of a house.  It also means  protection and faithful service.

The Star represents a divine quality bestowed by God.  It is also a sign of the third son.  Also know it is a mullet.

The Cresent has several meanings.  Hope of glory is one. Also a person who has been enlightened.  And a sign of the second son.

The color bar was added at a later time.  The colors are the following:          Red (Gules)  Warrior, Martyr andMilitary Strength.                                                              Yellow/Gold   Generosity.

The Eagle in flight represents a protector, strength and power.  It also signifies a person of action with a noble nature.
